A Gift of Intention: Why I No Longer Offer Gift Certificates

I often get asked whether I offer gift certificates — and the short answer is no.
It’s not because I don’t believe in the spirit of giving or want to make things complicated. In fact, I absolutely love when clients want to share this work with someone they care about. But over the years, I’ve learned that gift certificates tend to create more confusion than clarity.
Why Gift Certificates Don’t Work for My Practice
In the past, I’ve had many generous clients purchase gift certificates for their friends or family members. While it always started with good intentions, the logistics often became complicated.
Sometimes the recipient wouldn’t use the certificate for months—or even years. I once had someone try to redeem a certificate that had been purchased three years earlier, even though it had already expired one year after it was issued.
I’ve also had situations where multiple gift certificates were purchased for friends who never scheduled their sessions. Then months later, the buyer would reach out frustrated or confused, unsure what happened to their gift or expecting a refund.
These experiences taught me that gift certificates can unintentionally create pressure, misunderstanding, and awkwardness for everyone involved.
What I Offer Instead
If you’d like to gift someone a session, I’m more than happy to help arrange that directly. We can communicate beforehand to make sure it’s the right fit and that your loved one knows what to expect. This keeps the process simple, personal, and clear — no expiration dates, no lost certificates, no confusion.
A Gift from the Heart
I believe that healing is most meaningful when it’s intentional — when someone chooses to receive it because they’re ready. By arranging a session directly, you’re giving your loved one not just a massage, but a thoughtful, respectful experience that honors their timing and my practice’s boundaries.
If you’d like to set something up for someone special, just reach out — I’d be happy to make it happen.
